L’amour the Laptop

Aug 16 2006

That’s what we named the laptop. After one of the Katamari cousins from We Love Katamari. Oh what’s that? You have no idea what I’m talking about? Well you should because it will change your life. Well maybe not your actual life. I could try explaining it to you but you would doubt me and not understand the brilliance that is We Love Katamari. Because let me tell you, it is brilliant. Well hey, I guess I could give you a hint. You start out with a Katamari and then you roll stuff up. Your Katamari gets bigger and bigger. That’s it, but IT is so much more.

L’amour is having some issues though. Her CMOS battery is dead or dying. It’s not the main battery, it’s an internal battery that controls the taskbar clock among other things. We set the clock and it immediately starts running slow. Very annoying. So after TBU gets off of work we’re heading over to Circuit City to see what they can do. I’m kinda nervous, I’ve heard awful things about Circuit City’s customer service. I didn’t even really want to buy it from them but they had a great deal going and Costco’s laptops START at $1100. I’m not at that point in my life yet. In case you didn’t already realize, I start all my shopping at Costco and go from there. I can’t help it and I don’t even know when or how it started. My mom doesn’t do it, so I don’t know who my Costco model is. But they are generally a good company and treat their customers AND their employees well. You can’t argue with that. I won’t get into urban spawl issues here though, because you know I could.

Ok so where was I? Right, Circuit City. So I am afraid that we are going to go in there and one of two things is going to happen. Either they are going to say too bad and tell us we can keep this one or return it minus a %15 restocking fee. OR they are just going to say it’s a manufacturing defect and we have to send it to Compaq. Obviously the latter is the lesser of two evils but I just don’t want to let my sweet L’amour go for weeks at a time. TBU is confident that it will be a pleasant experience and that they will have sold out of all these models because it was such a great deal and offer us an upgrade. That positive thinking is why he’s good to have around. Even though he’s probably wrong I hope he’s right.

Have I told you where I am posting from? Of course not because I’ve been trying to keep cool. But I am a nerd so I will tell you that I am posting from my couch. Yes, I am sitting comfortably and L’amour is doing her best to keep me warm. Now, this isn’t the coolest place to be posting from since there are literally two other easily accessible computers in this room but hey. Mayhaps tomorrow I will venture past my front door, but that remains to be seen.
