brady, your comments are always enthusiastically welcomed. it was such a disgusting act that i can only hope there were lessons to be learned. and NOT lessons about walking home from bars alone. lessons about community. even though i'm more than 500 miles away now, i still think about that woman and hope she is doing her best. as for her attacker, i don't want to give him my energy, but i hope he is doing less well.

Something similar happened to a poor girl in Chicago- I was so mad for a long time. I still think had I been walking by instead of across the street with friends (dark, near a park, you couldn't see anything) I would have put that guy in a coma, very least.

It actually sparked me going to school for forensics (though when I learned I had to enforce victimless crimes [drug war, seatbelts] as well as protect against volent crimes, being a cop lost it's shine for me), and when I hear this like this it always makes me feel just the same. It's very cool that your neighborhood is doing something right away- I'm sure they'll be vigilante or start a watch as well, hopefully it never happens again!

"i really love my neighborhood. it’s beautiful and old with wide streets and every house is different." Mine is the same way === but no hedges.

I love that you were planning to prune and there were so many like minded on your street. Awesome!

That's fucked up but it is an indication of the type of neighborhood you live in that people gathered en masse to cut down the trees.
