About The Millionizer

This blog started out of boredom and unemployment in July of 2006. My sweet, sweet cat of 16 years had just died and I was listless, I hated the town I lived in but had no clue what to do about it. Turns out, I just hated the life I had allowed myself to settle for. In late 2007 I figured out what I wanted to do when I grew up and started taking biology classes while working full time. Oh yeah, I finally got a job.
In 2009 my boyfriend of 7 years and I got married in a crazy ass, Dirty Dancing themed wedding where I cruised up to the altar on a boat. It was amazing and the funnest day of my life, you can read about it here.
So what’s up with The Millionizer now? Well, it’s 2011 and I’m in a nursing program in San Diego and loving it. In fact, I’m sitting in class right now while I update this. I graduate in May of 2012. My husband cooks for me and we have three cats, one who uses me so he doesn’t have to hunt, one who is emotionally needy and another who we never see.
My favorite movie is Dirty Dancing. I went to film school and graduated in 2005 from UCSC with a degree in Film and Digital Media with a Production Concentration. That basically means I got to do a lot of cool shit in college. But it wasn’t the career path I wanted, it was the creative path I wanted, hence the application for nursing programs. I am surprisingly skilled with people, a skill I learned about fairly recently and was as surprised as anyone else to know I had.
I like: science, being in charge, cute animals, the city of San Francisco, well maintained hygeine, film theory, napping, eating, being a student, antioxidants, gardening, houseplants, yoga, fastidiousness, water, religious imagery, hanging out with my boyfriend, remembering to take my vitamins, teaching, knowing a lot, travel to slightly exotic locations such as Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica, movies, when my friends have blogs, getting comments on my posts, feeling like I’m good at something, media, creative lighting, mixed media art, modness, thick eyeliner, drinking wine and listening to music in a dark, smoky room, large earrings,
I do not like: sweat, concerts with sweaty people, inconsiderateness, excuses, perfume, getting up before 9am, my landlord, having greasy hair, boys who miss the toilet, friends who take advantage of my friendship, headaches, paying rent, people who don’t know what they’re talking about, hypocrisy, people who ask drawn out questions in class
Shouldn’t TBU now be called THU?
Sweet Anonymous, it was decided here that TBU will be called TBU henceforth. But astute reading!
“people who don’t know what their talking about.” Should read “people who don’t know what they’re talking about.” It should be a contraction, not possessive. Unless it was intentional to underscore your point. In which case, hats off! Nevertheless, still great writing! Entertaining blog.
You’re absolutely right. And you know what the worst part about it is? I noticed this a while ago and figured, “Eh, no one’s ever gonna read this anyway.” You, Jocelyn, have proved me wrong. Fixed.
